- What glue for sensitive materials such as polystyrene or PVC?
- How can the mounting adhesive be removed?

Each of us will sooner or later face the challenge of choosing an assembly adhesive. As it turns out, this is not a difficult task. All you need to do is prepare properly. Before we go to the store for glue, let's make sure what the materials we want to glue are made of. This is important because adhesives, as chemicals, can react chemically with a given material. We can find out about the material from the product label.

How to choose glue for skirting boards?

We have two solutions to choose from. One cheaper - ordinary solvent-based mounting glue, which we can use for wooden slats and some plastic slats. The downside of this solution is that cheap adhesives are not flexible. After some time, there is a risk that the adhesive will simply release due to impact or environmental conditions. It is much better to choose a solution that is not much more expensive, and reliable for years - assembly adhesives based on MS polymer. These are products that are fully flexible after hardening, and are also resistant to weather conditions and water. What's more, they can be used for both wooden and plastic slats. It is also worth choosing adhesives that provide a high initial adhesive strength (high tack). In this case, we do not need to support the strips so that they do not bounce during the glue curing process (usually several hours).

Where should you use flexible mounting adhesives?

Flexible mounting adhesives should be used for all materials that may change their volume. An example would be a mirror glued to the wall in a newly completed building. Such a building can work for a long time, so you should use an elastic glue to stick the mirror to prevent possible damage in the future. The same goes for any outdoor work. A large proportion of materials shrink or expand under the influence of temperature changes. If we use ordinary assembly glue, which is not flexible, we will start gluing again in some time.

What are chemically non-aggressive adhesives?

Chemically non-aggressive adhesives are adhesives of the new technology, which are based on substances that are safe for humans and the environment. Many of them are safe even for allergy sufferers. Such adhesives can be used for many materials, even sensitive ones, such as polystyrene or mirrors.

Can the mounting adhesives be used outdoors?

Of course! It should only be noted whether:
- the adhesive is resistant to water
- what is the thermal resistance of the adhesive
- whether the adhesive is flexible.
Usually, you should look for adhesives whose thermal resistance is in the range of approx. -40 ° C to approx. +80 ° C.

What glue for sensitive materials such as polystyrene, natural stone, PVC or mirrors?

For bonding sensitive materials, use chemically non-aggressive adhesives such as Adelastic and Adelastic CR. These are products dedicated to difficult materials. They guarantee that the mirror will not damage its silver coating under the influence of gluing, that the polystyrene will not be burnt, and that PVC and natural stone will retain their original color.

How can the mounting adhesive be removed?

Hardened mounting adhesive can in most cases only be removed mechanically, i.e. with a knife or scrapers. There are also chemicals that can help remove the old adhesive coating, but care should be taken when handling them. Their composition is based mainly on strong solvents that can damage or discolor the glued materials.
In conclusion, choosing a mounting adhesive may seem like it for some
get complicated. Fortunately, there are products to help with your renovation work. Multi-purpose adhesives such as Adelastic can be used.

Choose the modern ADELASTIC mounting adhesive.

Adelastic adhesive is a flexible assembly adhesive for all building materials *. It has an extremely strong initial grip just 1 second after pressing, which guarantees gluing heavy objects without supporting it.
It can be used indoors, outdoors and even on damp surfaces. It is chemically non-aggressive and odorless. It is an excellent and safe choice for construction and renovation works when we are not sure what materials we are dealing with.
* except PE, PP, Teflon and bituminous surfaces.
